Why do you need to protect yourself from ticks?

Ticks spread nasty diseases: Lyme disease and tick-borne encephalitis (TBE). Diseases can be transmitted through a tick bite, although not all ticks carry diseases. The number of ticks in recent years has been on the rise. Due to nasty diseases and the growing number of ticks, it is important to protect oneself and one's fellow human beings from the bite of a tick.
How can I protect my child from ticks?
- The main thing is preventive protection. This will help:
- Long-sleeved and leggy, light-colored clothing. The garment protects the skin, preventing the tick from sticking to the skin. Put the socks inside the legs, thereby closing the “path” to the skin along the shoes. It is easier to spot a tick on light-colored clothing, as ticks are dark in color and very small in size, making it easier to spot a small bug against a light background.
- Mite repellent. We recommend non-toxic options such as the Tickless device, which you can use without worry even to protect a small baby. The Tickless mite repellent disrupts the mite's senses with ultrasonic waves, so that the tick cannot find its “prey” and does not know how to stick to the skin. The tickless repeller evicts ticks within a radius of 1.5 meters and its effectiveness has been scientifically proven. Read more about the device From the Tickless FAQ section or from our online store from here.
- Vaccines. The TBE vaccine should be taken when there is an opportunity and when the child is old enough. The TBE vaccine does not protect against tick bite or borreliosis, but only against tick-borne encephalitis. Read more From the website of THL whether your family is eligible for the TBE vaccine as part of the national vaccination programme.
Prevention also includes the so-called tick bite, in which the skin and clothing are examined for possible ticks. Just checking the skin is not enough, as the mite can stay on clothes and later infect the skin. And this is why light-colored clothes are a great choice - they relieve the appearance of ticks. If the tick is detected and removed as soon as possible, the risk of borreliosis is reduced. Keep your tick tweezers with you and get some for the cabin as well. Read the tick cause instructions here.

In children, a tick bite manifests itself in the upper body or legs. In young children, a tick bite is often found in the neck and head area. Also check the back of the ears, scalp, and other areas where the eye does not hit most immediately.
TICKLESS FAQS
Tickless Tick Repellent is a preventative, non-toxic, chemical-free, and odorless mite repellent. The action of the tickless repeller is based on ultrasound of a certain frequency, from which the senses of ticks are disturbed and which they do not like. In this case, the mites stick to the device and its carrier at a distance - 1.5 meters away, to be precise.
How does ultrasound expel a tick?
The ultrasonic wave works by means of acoustic energy (sound). Ultrasound disturbs the tick, making it unable to find its “prey”. Watch this Youtube video, how does the mite not stick to the skin when Tickless is on and emits ultrasound.
Can pets, humans, or other animals in the wild hear ultrasound?
The sound frequencies of the tick repellent are inaudible to human ears, pets such as dogs, and other animals in the wild, so they also do not disturb the surrounding nature.

Humans hear sounds of about 20—20,000 hertz (Hz). And although dogs, cats, and other animals are known to have better hearing than us humans, their ears are not disturbed by the frequency of the Tickless mite repellent. Dogs and cats can hear ultrasound up to 35 kHz, where the Tickless device transmits a frequency of 40 kHz. So Tickless is also safe for our other loved ones!
Is Tickless Tick Repellent Really Effective?
Tickless is proven to be effective. The technology used in the tickless mite repellent was thoroughly researched at the University of Camerino, Italy. The result of the clinical trial was that the technology works as it should - keeping ticks at bay.
According to the latest research, it can be shown that Tickless was 94% effective against ticks.
For the best possible protection, we encourage you to use other preventative protections as listed above. In places where there are a lot of ticks, 100% protection is not guaranteed. Also, the Tickless device is not suitable for removing ticks.
How long does the device have?
The operating time of the Tickless Baby device is approximately 6-12 months from the first activation. You can test whether the device is still active by pressing the button: if the LED light flickers, there is still time left to use.
How to carry a tick repellent? Can you put it in your pocket?
Tickless mite repellent should be in a prominent place from which it can transmit ultrasound effectively. If the device is in your pocket, bag, or elsewhere on the “inside”, ultrasound playback will be disrupted and the device will not work as desired. So never slip Tickles into your pocket, but instead think about what would be a safe and comfortable place for you and your child:
- Trouser belt loop
- Shoelaces/Velcro strap for sandals
- Jacket/hoodie zipper puller
- Backpack carrying handle
- Top shoulder strap
- Safety Rack Carrying Handle
- Bracelet/Strap
- Lanyard for the neck
For a slightly older child, the wearable Tickless device itself is nice and easily becomes part of the routine of going out - the same way you put your shoes on, you slip the Tickless on. Get a comfortable and child-friendly wrist strap or key chain with Tickless hanging on the end.
