Take a look at the temperature guide below and find a Voksi thermal bag suitable for the season.

Comparing thermal bags can be tricky

Thermal bags do not have their own thermal classification standard, such as with sleeping bags is. This is why Voksi tested all of its thermal bags and developed its own method to test how warm the thermal bags are. This method tests the thermal insulation performance of thermal bags, that is, how well the thermal bag retains heat inside. Based on these results, Voksi has developed its own Temperature Guide and Scale to help you think about the right thermal bag for your child. In the guide you will find which thermal bag is suitable for what kind of weather/winter conditions. The guide and scale have been developed in order to more clearly classify the different Voksi heat bags for different temperature conditions.

Temperature Guide

1. Really cold winter - traditional Nordic winter weather (Extra cold) ❄ ❄

For really cold weather, you need a thermal bag with a decent layer of heaters and that insulates the heat well. These thermal bags are the equivalent of an adult down jacket.

2. Cold Winter and Autumn (Cold) ❄

Such a weather condition prevails among others. In southern Finland, most of the winter. The thermal insulation of City and Move X thermal bags is about the size of a wool jacket.

The new Adventure and popular Explorer heat bag are intended for milder winters (e.g. for the winter weather of southern Europe), autumn, or early spring - Explorer and Adventure are for days when adults wear a light down jacket and a warm sweater underneath.

  • Adventuri
  • Explorador - Crash-tested with the back in the direction of travel in the car seat.

3. Mild autumn air, spring and colder summer air (Mild) 🍁 🌷

For cold summer nights and spring weather, as well as milder early autumn, a lightweight thermal bag is suitable. These thermal bags are also suitable for colder weather with layering - dress warm under the bag merino wool. We all know this weather - when you go out in a denim jacket, but you still needed a light jacket. These thermal bags provide lightweight, even levels of insulation for your child.

Which thermo bag is suitable for Finland's conditions?

There are many different thicknesses of thermal bags and less often you can find THE thermo bag, which is suitable for all different conditions in Finland. Keep in mind layering or consider getting a few different thickness thermal bags (after all, we have winter jackets of different thicknesses for adults too!).

Thermo Bag FAQ

Are there thermal bags of different sizes for children of different ages?

Thermal bags come in two different sizes:
Tray bag: Suitable for about 0-18 months
Thermal bag: Suitable for about 0-4 yrs

Some of the trough bags come with an extension piece that allows you to extend the thermal bag and extend the service life as the child grows. The new City North thermal bag can be used by your child up to 4 years with an extension piece.
The Adventure and Adventure North thermal bags have a drawstring at the foot end, allowing you to customize the length of the thermal bag to suit your child.

If the tray or thermal bag seems too big for a small baby, you can fold the felt thermal bag onto the foot end to bring more warmth and comfort.

What kind of clothes to wear for a child under a thermal bag?

The temperature and wind intensity vary a lot in winter, autumn, and spring in Finland, which is why your children's clothing sizes will vary greatly under the thermal bag - layering will be a glory! By layering and varying your child's clothes under a thermal bag, you can use one and the same thermal bag in a wide variety of weather conditions. However, it is individual how warm your child is and what kind of heat he thrives in, so there is no unequivocal answer what kind of clothes your child needs under the thermal bag.

How to check if my child is too hot or too cold in a thermal bag?

To check if your child has enough clothes under a thermal bag, try the child's neck - if the neck is cold, your child does not have enough on, and if the neck is too warm, your child has too much on. Tip! Merino wool and wool garments regulate the temperature well, so check them out in our online store from here. Merino wool clothing is known for being suitable for both cold and warm weather, as it is a highly breathable material that warms even when wet.Merino wool moves moisture away from the skin (such as sweat), leaving the skin feeling comfortable and dry all year round. Merino wool is also antibacterial, allowing it to clean itself (magic!). Merino keeps warm in cold winter weather and regulates body temperature in warm summer breezes, that is, it is the perfect clothing material under a thermal bag.
